Terms of Use

The agreement between you and Zappsco governing your use of the Prayer Lock mobile application.

Effective date: 3 August 2026 · Last updated: 3 August 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Zappsco (“we”, “us”) governing your use of the Prayer Lock mobile application (“the App”).

By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Religious content — please read this first

Prayer Lock is a scheduling and reminder tool. It is not a religious authority.

  • Prayer times are calculated estimates. They are derived from your location, the date, and the calculation method and madhab you select. Different methods legitimately produce different times. The App offers several because scholars differ, not because one is objectively correct.
  • Verify against your local mosque or authority. Where the App and your local authority disagree, follow your local authority. We do not warrant that any time shown is correct for your circumstances.
  • The Qibla compass is an approximation. It depends on your device’s magnetometer, which is affected by metal, magnets, cases, electrical interference, and calibration. Treat it as guidance, not certainty.
  • Quranic and Arabic text is presented from established sources and is reproduced without alteration. If you find an error in any verse, translation, hadith, or dua, please report it to hello@zappsco.com so we can correct it. We take this seriously.

You are responsible for your own religious observance. The App is an aid to it, never a substitute for it.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 13 (or your country’s equivalent minimum age).
  • Prayer times, the Qibla compass, and the full Quran are available without an account.
  • An account is required to purchase, restore, or hold a Pro subscription, because your entitlement is tied to your account rather than to a device. This is what lets you keep Pro when you change or reset your phone.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account.
  • You may create an account with an email address, Google, or Apple. If you use Sign in with Apple with Hide My Email, the relay address Apple provides is treated as your account email — keep that relay active or you may lose access.

3. Subscriptions and payment

3.1 What Pro includes

Pro unlocks the App Blocker, the complete dua and hadith collections, and home-screen widgets. Prayer times and the full Quran are part of the App regardless of subscription status.

3.2 Plans and pricing

PlanPriceFree trial
Monthly$6.99 per month
Yearly$39.99 per year3 days

Prices are in US dollars and may differ in your local currency and by region. The exact price you will be charged, in your currency, is shown by the App Store or Google Play before you confirm.

3.3 Free trial

The 3-day free trial is available on the yearly plan only and is generally limited to one per user or per store account. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid yearly subscription and your payment method is charged.

3.4 Auto-renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically. Your payment method is charged within 24 hours before the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Renewal continues at the then-current price for your plan.

3.5 Billing, cancellation, and refunds

  • Payment is charged to your Apple App Store or Google Play account, not to us. We never receive or store your card details.
  • Cancel through your store’s subscription settings — iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Android: Play Store → Subscriptions. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
  • Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for; partial periods are not refunded.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their policies, not by us. We generally cannot issue, reverse, or expedite a store refund. If you believe something has gone wrong, write to hello@zappsco.com and we will help where we can.

3.6 Restoring purchases

Use Restore Purchases on the paywall to recover an existing subscription on a new or reset device. Restoring requires signing in to the account the subscription is linked to.

3.7 Price changes

We may change subscription prices. Changes do not affect a period you have already paid for, and you will receive notice through the store as required by Apple’s and Google’s rules. Continuing after a price change takes effect means you accept the new price; if you do not, cancel before it applies.

4. Invite codes

We may issue invite codes that grant Pro without a store purchase.

  • Codes are limited to one redemption per account, may expire, and may have a capped number of total uses.
  • Codes have no cash value, cannot be sold, transferred, or exchanged, and are not refundable.
  • We may revoke a code or an access grant obtained through fraud, sharing, or automated abuse.
  • Access granted by a code is not a subscription, does not auto-renew, and may be time-limited.

5. App Blocker — scope and limits

The App Blocker helps you avoid distraction during prayer windows. It is a self-discipline tool, not a security or parental-control product.

You acknowledge that:

  • It can be bypassed. On Android the block screen includes a deliberate long-press emergency exit, and permissions can be revoked in system settings at any time. This is intentional — you must never be locked out of your own phone in an emergency.
  • We do not guarantee it will block every app in every situation. Behaviour varies by manufacturer, Android version, battery optimisation settings, and iOS Screen Time behaviour.
  • Do not rely on it for anything safety-critical. Do not use it in a way that could prevent you from placing an emergency call or receiving urgent communication.
  • Enabling it requires permissions you grant explicitly through the App (Usage Access and Display-over-other-apps on Android; Screen Time on iOS). We never request these silently, and you can revoke them at any time.

6. Notifications and device permissions

  • Prayer notifications and the adhan are scheduled locally on your device. We do not send push notifications.
  • Reliable delivery depends on your device: battery optimisation, Do Not Disturb, silent mode, notification permissions, and aggressive task-killing by some manufacturers can delay or suppress an alarm. We do not guarantee that any notification will be delivered at any particular time.
  • iOS limits custom notification sounds to 30 seconds and caps how many notifications can be scheduled in advance, so adhan behaviour differs between platforms.
  • You may revoke any permission at any time. The affected feature will stop working, but the rest of the App will continue.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with subscription entitlement checks, or obtain Pro without paying for it or being granted it by us.
  • Use automated means to redeem invite codes, create accounts, or generate load against our services.
  • Modify, alter, or misrepresent the Quranic, hadith, or dua content presented in the App, or redistribute it in a way that implies our endorsement.
  • Use the App unlawfully, or to harass, abuse, or harm anyone.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the App or access to it.

8. Intellectual property

The App, its design, code, branding, and original written content are owned by Zappsco and protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

Quranic text, hadith collections, and traditional supplications are part of the Islamic scholarly tradition and are not claimed as our property. Translations and API-supplied content remain the property of their respective sources.

9. Third-party services

The App relies on third-party services including Firebase, RevenueCat, PostHog, the Aladhan API, and the Al-Quran Cloud API, and depends on the Apple App Store or Google Play for distribution and payment. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services, and their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them.

If a third-party service becomes unavailable or changes, some features may be degraded or discontinued.

10. Availability and changes to the App

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time. We may release updates that change functionality. We are not liable for any resulting unavailability. If we discontinue a paid feature entirely, we will make a reasonable effort to give notice.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

Without limiting the above, we do not warrant that prayer times or Qibla direction will be accurate for your location, that notifications will be delivered on time, that the App Blocker will block any given app, or that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zappsco will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the App — including any missed prayer, missed notification, incorrect prayer time, or incorrect Qibla direction.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the App will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it, and may delete your account from within the App.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms — in particular §7 (Acceptable use) or §4 (invite-code abuse). Where a breach is minor and curable, we will make a reasonable effort to contact you first.

Sections 1, 8, 11, 12, 14, and 15 survive termination.

14. Apple-specific terms

If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, the following apply:

  • These Terms are between you and Zappsco only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
  • If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price if applicable. Apple has no other warranty obligation.
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the App, including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, or consumer protection claims.
  • Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, or resolving any third-party claim that the App infringes intellectual property rights.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and are not on any US Government prohibited-parties list.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

15. General

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION — to be completed by Zappsco], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.

Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms as the App changes. We will update the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, give notice inside the App. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App.
